Utility 11 & Brush 11

In August 2019, the department purchased and placed into service a new Ram utility truck and a Polaris Ranger ATV which was an equipped with a Kimtek Corporation brushfire skid unit. Brush 11, the designation for the Polaris ATV is used for special events throughout the town, storm details, and response to all brush and grass fires. This was the first time ever that the department had a piece of equipment that was capable of going off road into wooded areas to fight fires and had the ability to carry up to four members with gear into these areas. Brush 11 is not only used in Ridgefield, but has also responded to numerous brushfires or searches where access is limited by larger vehicle vehicles and surrounding towns.

Utility 11 is a 2019 Ram 3500 truck that is equipped to tow Brush 11 when it needs to be trailered to scenes or event events. Utility 11 is four-wheel drive and is used during storms to assist on emergency calls, and has the capability of transporting members with equipment to scenes when needed. Both Utility 11 and Brush 11 were purchased by the Ridgefield volunteer fire department through donations, fundraising, and financial assistance from various supporters throughout the community. The addition of these two specialized units allows us to better serve the town of Ridgefield.
